Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the Tamil Nadu Government will organize grand state celebrations on January 1, 2025, to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the iconic 133-foot Thiruvalluvar Statue situated on the rock memorial off Kanyakumari's coastline. Conceived and unveiled by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on New Year's Day in 2000, the colossal stone monument stands as an enduring tribute to the universal ethical philosophy of the Tirukkural.
Stalin emphasized that the monumental sculpture, rising majestically at the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, and Bay of Bengal, symbolizes Tamil cultural pride and non-sectarian moral wisdom. He noted that the 133-foot height represents the 133 chapters of the Tirukkural, embodying timeless virtues of righteousness, wealth, and love that transcend religious and linguistic divisions.
The Chief Minister confirmed that extensive renovation, modern lighting installations, and pedestrian footbridge works are being completed to enhance visitor accessibility for the jubilee milestone. Stalin affirmed that celebrating the statue's twenty-fifth anniversary reinforces Tamil Nadu's commitment to propagating Thiruvalluvar's egalitarian ethics globally, ensuring that universal humanitarian principles continue inspiring future generations across the entire globe.
