Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated seventeen newly constructed Panchayat Union office complexes established across twelve districts by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department. The modern administrative buildings, constructed at a cumulative expenditure of 64.53 crore rupees, are situated in Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Erode, Kanyakumari, Pudukkottai, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Theni, Thoothukudi, Tiruchirappalli, Tiruppur, and Villupuram districts.
Stalin emphasized that rural local governance bodies serve as the foundational bedrock for delivering state welfare schemes and executing grassroots infrastructure works. The newly inaugurated complexes feature digitized administrative halls, council meeting chambers, and citizen facilitation counters designed to streamline rural governance and enhance public service access.
The Chief Minister stressed that empowering village panchayats and block-level councils remains central to the Dravidian Model governance philosophy of decentralized development. He noted that improved administrative facilities enable local officials to monitor rural road construction, drinking water supply networks, and poverty alleviation programs more efficiently. Stalin affirmed that the government will continue investing heavily in rural infrastructure, ensuring that village communities enjoy modern civic amenities and responsive local administration across all thirty-eight revenue districts statewide for the public good.
