Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recounted the historic struggles of the Dravidian movement to eradicate caste hierarchies in Hindu places of worship, celebrating the successful appointment of archakas from all social backgrounds. Stalin recalled that social reform pioneers initially fought to secure the basic right for oppressed communities to walk on temple streets, followed by decisive agitations that secured temple entry for all citizens.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the DMK government dismantled the ultimate bastion of ritual discrimination by enacting legislation ensuring that qualified individuals of all castes can become temple priests. Under this progressive policy, state-run archaka training academies were revitalized, providing rigorous Vedic and Agama training to youth from non-Brahmin and subaltern backgrounds.
Stalin expressed profound pride that this inclusive policy has expanded further to include women who have completed Agama training, formally inducting female priests into temple service. He characterized these breakthroughs as the practical realization of Periyar's lifelong rationalist mission and Kalaignar's egalitarian vision. Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian Model administration will continue eradicating entrenched social inequities, ensuring absolute spiritual and civil equality across Tamil Nadu without any societal discrimination.
