Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Vizhudhugal Integrated Service Centre in Sholinganallur, established under the World Bank-assisted RIGHTS project implemented by the Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons. The newly commissioned rehabilitation facility offers specialized physical, psychological, occupational, and speech therapy services under one roof, designed to promote holistic recovery and independent living for persons with diverse disabilities.
Stalin announced that twenty-seven similar integrated rehabilitation hubs are being systematically developed across Tamil Nadu to ensure that rural and urban beneficiaries receive advanced therapeutic interventions close to their homes. He interacted directly with healthcare professionals, therapists, and beneficiary families, reviewing adaptive equipment and assistive medical technology installed at the center.
The Chief Minister affirmed that the Dravidian Model governance views disability welfare as a fundamental human right rather than mere charity. He highlighted that expanding therapeutic infrastructure empowers differently abled citizens to achieve social dignity, educational attainment, and economic self-reliance. Stalin reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that comprehensive rehabilitative support reaches every vulnerable household across the state without financial hardship, ensuring equitable dignity and social opportunities for every individual.
