The Tamil Nadu Govt will not implement the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in its current form, as it fails to align with the principles of social justice. Instead, we will introduce a more inclusive scheme to empower all artisans, irrespective of caste or family occupation, ensuring holistic and equitable support.
As ideological inheritors of leaders who opposed 'Kula Kalvi Thittam' we cannot support schemes that perpetuate hereditary caste-based occupations under any guise.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin firmly announced that the state government will not implement the central PM Vishwakarma Scheme in its existing configuration, stating that the scheme's criteria perpetuate hereditary, caste-based professions and undermine the constitutional ideals of social justice. Instead, Stalin declared that Tamil Nadu will formulate its own comprehensive, inclusive welfare initiative designed to provide holistic financial, technological, and marketing support to all traditional artisans, completely independent of their caste or hereditary familial background.
The Chief Minister emphasized that as ideological inheritors of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, who successfully mobilized public consciousness to abolish Rajaji's regressive Kula Kalvi Thittam in 1954, the Dravidian movement will never endorse policies that reinforce traditional social hierarchies under any administrative pretext. Stalin affirmed that genuine empowerment requires offering progressive educational avenues and modern vocational alternatives rather than confining communities to ancestral occupations.
Stalin affirmed that the state's proposed artisan program will offer subsidized loans, modern machinery, design training, and institutional credit to craftspeople from all social strata without exclusionary restrictions. He concluded that Tamil Nadu will continue championing progressive social transformation rooted in equality, dignity, and casteless solidarity.
