Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited the State Emergency Operations Centre in Chennai, convening a high-level coordination conference with district collectors and administrative heads to finalize emergency preparedness measures ahead of the landfall of Cyclone Fengal. Following the operational consultation, Stalin conducted field inspections across Chennai, inspecting centralized community relief kitchens and evaluating high-capacity stormwater pumping stations deployed along major arterial canals.
The Chief Minister assured citizens that state departments and municipal corporations are fully primed with boats, tree-clearing equipment, and emergency medical kits to manage heavy rainfall. Stalin instructed all elected representatives, including Members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly members, and municipal councilors, to station themselves directly within vulnerable neighborhoods to assist residents and coordinate civic rescue teams.
Stalin appealed to the public to follow official safety advisories issued by the disaster management authority and remain indoors during peak wind and precipitation spells. He assured citizens that the Dravidian Model government is actively deployed on the ground with comprehensive resources to safeguard lives, guarantee uninterrupted drinking water, and rapidly restore essential public services, transport channels, and electricity networks without administrative delay.
