Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the ambitious second phase of the Vada Chennai Valarchi Thittam, committing an unprecedented budgetary investment of 6,309 crore rupees to overhaul civic infrastructure and public amenities across historic North Chennai. Stalin remarked that regardless of how far Chennai expands geographically, North Chennai represents the authentic cultural heartbeat of the metropolis, deserving focused developmental investment to overcome decades of historical administrative neglect.
Reviewing progress from the initial phase, the Chief Minister proudly dedicated 29 completed urban projects out of 87 sanctioned works, accomplished within an impressive eight-month execution timeframe. These newly commissioned public assets include modernized community halls, upgraded primary health centers, reconstructed stormwater drainage channels, renovated school campuses, and vibrant recreational public parks designed to improve quality of life for working-class neighborhoods.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and senior cabinet colleagues, Stalin declared that North Chennai has definitively entered an era of rapid transformation, shedding past stereotypes to emerge as a fully developed urban zone. He promised that upcoming infrastructure works will deliver world-class transit networks and modern housing across the region.
