Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reviewed emergency relief and rescue operations being executed across Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi districts following torrential monsoon rainfall. Interacting directly with district collectors and senior monitoring officers via video conference from Chennai, Stalin issued comprehensive instructions to ensure the immediate distribution of cooked meals, safe drinking water, and round-the-clock emergency medical assistance in waterlogged localities.
The Chief Minister deputed senior cabinet ministers K.N. Nehru and K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran alongside senior IAS monitoring officers to station themselves directly in affected southern districts. These high-level delegations were instructed to supervise grassroots relief camps, coordinate rapid floodwater drainage using high-capacity pumping machinery, and inspect temporary shelters accommodating evacuated families. Stalin emphasized that administrative teams must maintain continuous vigil over rising water levels in reservoirs, irrigation channels, and riverbanks to prevent unexpected breaches.
Stalin assured residents that the state government is deploying all available administrative machinery to restore normalcy without delay. He directed electrical engineers and municipal workers to prioritize the restoration of essential power supplies and sanitization drives, guaranteeing that affected families receive uninterrupted institutional assistance throughout the heavy rainfall spell.
