In a stirring letter addressed to DMK cadre, party president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin called upon grassroots workers to draw enduring inspiration from the historic Vaikom struggle to resist the central government's One Nation One Election project. Stalin emphasized that just as the Vaikom centenary illuminated the path toward social equality and human dignity, democratic forces must now unite to repel centralizing initiatives that threaten state autonomy.
Stalin characterized simultaneous elections as an undemocratic measure designed to erase regional identity and erode the constitutional sovereignty of state legislatures. He cautioned party members that reducing state assemblies to mere appendages of national electoral schedules undermines grassroots self-respect and collective federal decision-making. The Chief Minister declared that the progressive legacy established by Thanthai Periyar provides the ideological clarity necessary to defeat regressive political schemes that seek to concentrate all administrative authority in New Delhi.
Stalin urged the party cadre to organize widespread grassroots awareness drives explaining the severe democratic dangers posed by simultaneous elections. He affirmed that DMK will spearhead national resistance alongside allied progressive parties to defend India's pluralism and constitutional governance.
