Extremely happy to lay the foundation stone for Hong Fu’s non leather footwear unit at #SIPCOT Panappakkam in Ranipet district, with an investment of 1500 crores creating 25,000 jobs. This is the latest among the string of such investments in TamilNadu, attracted by our proactive outreach towards Taiwanese companies and pioneering footwear policy.

In our mission to become the footwear capital of India, we are proud that we have been able to bring in a cumulative investment of Rs.6,550 crores in this sector, creating 86,150 job opportunities in the districts of Perambalur, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur and Ranipet. Another significant outcome is that most of these jobs will be for our young women!

Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for Taiwanese manufacturer Hong Fu's non-leather footwear production facility at SIPCOT Panappakkam industrial complex in Ranipet district. Supported by a committed capital investment of 1,500 crore rupees, this manufacturing plant will generate direct employment opportunities for 25,000 workers, with the vast majority of recruitments reserved for young women from rural households across northern Tamil Nadu.

Stalin highlighted that this major project marks another decisive milestone in the state's industrial trajectory, catalyzed by his administration's proactive diplomatic outreach toward Taiwanese enterprises and a pioneering sectoral footwear policy. Aiming to establish Tamil Nadu as the indisputable footwear manufacturing hub of South Asia, the Dravidian Model government has attracted cumulative investments totaling 6,550 crore rupees into this employment-intensive industry. These commitments have yielded 86,150 formal jobs distributed systematically across Perambalur, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, and Ranipet districts.

By dispersing high-value industrial complexes across developing rural districts, the state ensures sustainable economic empowerment for local youth near their native homes. Stalin congratulated the Industries Department and Guidance Tamil Nadu for swift institutional facilitation. He affirmed that robust infrastructure, transparent governance, and peaceful labor environments will continue drawing premier international enterprises to Tamil Nadu.
