Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin congratulated the newly elected executive committee and office-bearers of the Chennai Press Club during their meeting in Chennai. In response to representations submitted by the press delegation, Stalin acknowledged that while the state government has implemented multiple comprehensive welfare initiatives for journalists, pending requests will be examined thoroughly and fulfilled in a phased, systematic manner.
The Chief Minister emphasized the vital distinction between conscientious public interest journalism and commercial sensationalism, cautioning against the harmful social consequences of unverified reporting. Stalin appealed directly to the Chennai Press Club leadership to organize specialized professional training workshops for young media recruits. He stressed the importance of educating new journalists on journalistic ethics, factual verification, and responsible civic reporting.
Stalin affirmed that free, ethical, and courageous journalism forms an essential pillar of democratic governance. He stated that the government welcomes constructive media scrutiny that strengthens public administration, promising that his administration will maintain an open, transparent relationship with working journalists. The Chief Minister wished the newly elected press leadership success in advancing journalist welfare and professional integrity throughout the state.
