Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited a working powerloom weaving unit in Erode to assess production conditions and interact directly with textile workers regarding their livelihood needs. Highlighting the historic welfare interventions delivered under DMK administrations, Stalin recalled pioneering schemes including free power connections, subsidized insurance coverage, and dedicated family welfare funds tailored for the weaving community.

The Chief Minister asserted that the Dravidian Model government has built steadily upon this legacy by raising the free electricity quota for powerloom units to one thousand units and providing state subsidies for modern electronic control panels. These modernization measures significantly lower operating costs for small weavers, ensuring that traditional textile centers across the western districts remain economically resilient and commercially competitive against large automated mills.

Stalin recalled that powerloom weaving associations in Coimbatore organized an extensive felicitation conference during the previous year to express appreciation for these timely policy interventions. He reiterated that his administration remains dedicated to protecting traditional artisans and small-scale industrialists, promising that supportive welfare measures, stable yarn supplies, and continuous modernization subsidies will endure throughout his tenure.
