Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced major civic commemorative honors in Nagapattinam to mark the birth centenary of legendary singer 'Isaimurasu' Nagore E.M. Hanifa. Stalin recalled iconic political anthems popularized by Hanifa, including celebrated movement songs dedicated to C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi, which remain etched in the hearts of millions of progressive cadres across the Tamil world.
To permanently honor Hanifa's cultural legacy, the Chief Minister announced that the thoroughfare housing his residence in Nagapattinam Municipality has been designated as 'Isai Murasu Nagore E.M. Hanifa Street'. Additionally, a newly renovated public recreation park situated along the coastal road leading to Silladi beach has been named 'Isai Murasu Nagore E.M. Hanifa Centenary Memorial Park'. Stalin described these tributes as an essential civic duty during his centenary commemoration.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian movement draws profound emotional strength from its cultural poets, artists, and vocalists who articulated progressive values to the masses. He reiterated that honoring Hanifa's musical genius ensures that future generations remember his enduring dedication to social harmony, rationalist movement ideals, and classical Tamil lyrical traditions across the entire state.
