The BJP government’s decision to deny Dr. #ManmohanSingh’s family the right to perform his last rites at a befitting site for his memorial is a direct insult to his towering legacy and the Sikh community. Refusing the family’s request and relegating a two-term Prime Minister to Nigambodh Ghat reeks of arrogance, bias and a deliberate attempt to erase his immense contributions from public memory.
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s leadership transformed India’s economy and lifted millions out of poverty. To disrespect a statesman of his stature is to disrespect India’s progress itself. The stain of dishonouring great leaders never fades from history!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condemned the BJP-led Union government for denying former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's family a designated memorial site for his final rites. Stalin characterized the refusal to grant a dignified national memorial site and relegating the two-term Prime Minister to Nigambodh Ghat as an act of arrogance, partisan bias, and a calculated attempt to diminish his historic contributions from public memory.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Dr. Manmohan Singh's visionary economic policies transformed India into a global powerhouse while lifting millions of citizens out of acute poverty. Stalin remarked that disrespecting a statesman of such eminent stature represents an insult to India's collective economic progress and offends the sentiments of the Sikh community nationwide. He asserted that political pettiness cannot erase the enduring legacy of transformative leaders from modern Indian history.
Stalin observed that the central ruling party's actions reveal deep discomfort with leaders who prioritized steady economic reform, social justice, and inclusive governance over rhetoric. He maintained that the historical record will remember Dr. Singh's dignity and achievements, warning that the disgrace of dishonoring great statesmen will remain an indelible stain upon the current administration.
