Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tributes to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, recalling his decade-long leadership of the United Progressive Alliance government that delivered transformative development initiatives to Tamil Nadu. Stalin gratefully highlighted that Dr. Singh fulfilled the century-old aspiration of Tamils by declaring Tamil an official Classical Language of India. He noted that twenty-one Tamil leaders held key ministerial portfolios in the UPA cabinet, reflecting unprecedented national influence and partnership.
Simultaneously, the Chief Minister expressed deep personal grief over the passing of veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister E.V.K.S. Elangovan. Descending from an illustrious political family as the grandson of Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, Elangovan remained dedicated to progressive politics, secular democracy, and alliance solidarity until his final breath. Stalin described Elangovan’s demise as an irreparable personal loss and a profound setback for the secular democratic alliance in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin offered heartfelt condolences to Elangovan's bereaved family, colleagues, and Congress cadres. He affirmed that the enduring legacy of coalition governance and progressive partnership will continue guiding democratic politics across Tamil Nadu. Their shared public values will inspire progressive public movements.
