Editorial context

Speaking on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin asserted that repeated procedural disruptions caused by Governor R.N. Ravi reflect a deep-seated inability to stomach Tamil Nadu's remarkable socioeconomic progress. Addressing the house during a debate on gubernatorial conduct, Stalin observed that the state leads the nation across diverse development indices, including industrial investments, public health outcomes, higher education enrollment, and women empowerment under Dravidian Model governance.

The Chief Minister noted that the Governor's refusal to read the prepared address approved by the state cabinet violates constitutional conventions and dishonors democratic traditions. Stalin pointed out that unelected titular heads are bound by the advice of the elected Council of Ministers as affirmed repeatedly by the Supreme Court of India. Creating artificial friction against an elected government that enjoys an overwhelming popular mandate reveals an underlying political motive to stifle progressive state achievements.

Stalin affirmed that no gubernatorial interference can halt Tamil Nadu's forward momentum or derail its people-centric welfare programs. The assembly will continue asserting its legislative sovereignty, defending federalism, and delivering accountable governance for all citizens.
