In his festive letter to party brethren, DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin characterized Pongal as Tamil society's preeminent cultural celebration, embodying secular equality and gratitude toward nature. Stalin emphasized that unlike religious observances, Pongal is a universal festival that honors human labor, agricultural toil, and the natural elements that sustain life. He urged party cadres to organize traditional sports, folk arts, and community feasts across every hamlet to celebrate communal harmony.
The Chief Minister observed that the Dravidian movement has historically promoted Pongal as a secular national festival of Tamils, dismantling superstitious rituals and reinforcing rationalist pride. He highlighted state government initiatives providing comprehensive Pongal gift packages and direct financial support to cardholders, ensuring all families celebrate with cheer. Stalin noted that preserving indigenous sporting traditions like Jallikattu reflects the enduring valor and cultural heritage of regional communities.
Stalin called upon cadres to welcome the harvest season with renewed ideological commitment to social justice and brotherhood. He affirmed that the DMK will continue safeguarding Tamil cultural identity against communal polarization, ensuring that festival celebrations reflect shared egalitarian prosperity statewide.
