Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated Thiruvalluvar Day by highlighting the universal, secular philosophy of sage Thiruvalluvar, whose ethical teachings continue to shine above sectarian attempts at narrow appropriation. Citing the classic Kural couplet affirming that high birth without virtue confers no greatness, while humble origin without vice brings no debasement, Stalin emphasized that human worth is defined strictly by character and moral deeds.
The Chief Minister asserted that sectarian groups attempt to confine Thiruvalluvar within narrow religious or caste boundaries, but his humanist verses remain an enduring beacon of egalitarian thought. Stalin referenced the Kanniyakumari Statue of Wisdom, installed by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, as the supreme architectural symbol of this universal worldview standing at the confluence of three seas. He reiterated that the Dravidian movement views Thirukkural not as a religious scripture, but as an enlightened ethical guide for constitutional democracy.
Stalin affirmed his administration's pledge to propagate Thiruvalluvar's ideals through public education, research endowments, and cultural celebrations. He urged citizens to embrace Valluvar's egalitarian wisdom, fostering an inclusive society free from social discrimination and sectarian intolerance.
