#ChennaiInternationalBookFair: Bringing the World to Tamil; Taking Tamil to the World" – This one-of-its-kind initiative in India by @tnschoolsedu has set new milestones.

Starting with 365 MoUs in 2023, growing to 752 in 2024, and now reaching 1125 at #CIBF2025 – 1005 for translations from Tamil to foreign languages and 120 into Tamil.

The Tamil intelligentsia credits this achievement and global recognition of Tamil literature to our #DravidianModel government’s grant and support. Let’s aim for our writers to win not just #Jnanpith but also #Nobel!

Congratulations to Hon'ble @Anbil_Mahesh and his team for this outstanding accomplishment! @cibfindia

Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin hailed the unprecedented success of the third Chennai International Book Fair, organized under the guiding vision of bringing the world to Tamil and taking Tamil to the world. Stalin revealed that the 2025 edition achieved a historic milestone by executing 1,125 translation agreements, marking exponential growth from 365 memoranda signed in 2023 and 752 in 2024. The agreements include 1,005 pacts to translate Tamil literary masterworks into foreign tongues and 120 for world classics into Tamil.

The Chief Minister noted that writers, publishers, and cultural observers attribute this worldwide recognition directly to the financial grants, institutional sponsorships, and logistical subsidies provided by the Dravidian Model governance. Stalin congratulated School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and departmental officials for orchestrating this global literary exchange. He called upon authors and translators to produce exceptional works, expressing hope that Tamil literature will earn premier accolades, including the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Stalin reaffirmed his government's resolve to sustain international literary collaborations, modern translation workshops, and publishing subsidies. He emphasized that global linguistic engagement elevates Tamil cultural heritage while exposing local readers to diverse world literatures.
