Our DMK Legal Eagles have come together to spark a vital discussion on #OneNationOneElection, the long-term agenda of right-wing forces to undermine Indian democracy.
Let the intellectual brilliance and critical thinking of these bright minds illuminate society and safeguard our nation.

DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commended the DMK Legal Wing for organizing a state conference to analyze the profound constitutional and democratic hazards posed by the One Nation One Election proposal. Stalin characterized simultaneous elections as an authoritarian scheme formulated by right-wing forces to subvert parliamentary democracy, dilute regional issues, and concentrate power in New Delhi. He praised party advocates for using their intellectual expertise to educate citizens and protect the constitutional framework.
The Chief Minister asserted that synchronizing national and state elections artificially overrides the fixed tenure of state assemblies and disregards anti-defection statutes and no-confidence mechanisms. By forcing national narratives onto localized elections, the proposal threatens the distinct democratic identity of individual states. Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian movement has consistently defended the multi-party federal character of the Indian Union against centralization efforts that seek uniformity over pluralism.
Stalin called upon legal professionals, civil society groups, and democratic parties to expand this debate across all districts under the slogan Say No To ONOE. He affirmed that the DMK will resist any constitutional amendment that curtails the legislative sovereignty of states.
