Commemorating the birth anniversary of illustrious Gandhian statesman and the first Premier of post-independence Madras Presidency, Omandur P. Ramasamy Reddiar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tributes to his exemplary integrity, agrarian compassion, and pioneering legislative contributions. Stalin celebrated Omandur as an incorruptible public figure who utilized his tenure to enact transformative social justice laws that broke centuries of feudal oppression across Tamil society.
The Chief Minister recalled Omandur's extraordinary legislative legacy, highlighting monumental enactments including the historic Temple Entry Authorization Act, the abolition of the oppressive Zamindari and Inam systems, the eradication of the exploitative Devadasi system, the creation of the Hindu Religious Endowments Act, and the establishment of a dedicated government department for Adi Dravidar welfare. He noted that these daring reforms dismantled institutional inequalities and expanded democratic rights for marginalized communities.
Stalin emphasized that Omandur's steadfast honesty and deep concern for farming livelihoods remain an enduring inspiration for the Dravidian Model administration. He affirmed that his government continues to walk in the footsteps of such ethical pioneers by championing agrarian welfare and social justice. Stalin concluded by reiterating the state's commitment to honoring leaders who dedicated their lives to people-centered progress.
