Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally inaugurated the advanced solar cell and module manufacturing facility of Tata Power Solar Ltd. in Gangaikondan near Tirunelveli. Highlighting the swift execution of the project, Stalin pointed out that the memorandum of understanding was signed in July 2022, foundation stone laid in October 2022, and commercial operations commenced in February 2025, demonstrating the Dravidian Model's proven ability to convert industrial commitments into operational realities without bureaucratic delay.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the massive manufacturing hub generates four thousand direct employment opportunities, with women comprising eighty percent of the workforce. He declared that providing high-tech manufacturing careers to educated rural women represents the true meaning of inclusive economic empowerment, transforming family livelihoods across Tirunelveli and adjoining southern districts.
Stalin emphasized that Tamil Nadu is rapidly consolidating its position as India's premier clean energy and electronics manufacturing corridor. He noted that decentralized industrial development ensures balanced regional prosperity, preventing forced migration toward metropolitan centers. Stalin concluded that his administration will continue attracting sustainable global investments, building an innovative industrial ecosystem that pairs cutting-edge green technologies with widespread social equity.
