Addressing an enthusiastic gathering during his visit to Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin employed the city's famed halwa tradition to deliver a sharp political critique of the Union Government's fiscal deception. Stalin remarked that the empty promises and deceitful assurances dished out by New Delhi have become far more famous than Tirunelveli's traditional sweet, satirizing the central regime's habit of denying promised funds to progressive states.
The Chief Minister detailed how Tamil Nadu has been repeatedly misled regarding major infrastructure financing, including the long-pending central share for Chennai Metro Rail Phase II and vital disaster compensation funds. He stated that despite numerous official representations and detailed memorandums submitted to central ministries, the Union Government persistently dodges its statutory financial obligations toward Tamil Nadu.
Stalin pointed out that while New Delhi happily collects vast tax contributions from the state's industrious citizens, it treats Tamil Nadu's welfare demands with dismissive indifference. He declared that citizens see through these hollow budgetary theatrics and will hold central authorities democratically accountable. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will relentlessly challenge New Delhi's deceit, demanding constitutional financial federalism and genuine respect for state rights.
