Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin sharply criticized the Union Budget presented by the Central Government, asking whether repeatedly refusing legitimate state demands is what New Delhi defines as financial governance. Speaking as part of the statewide #BJPCheatsTN outreach, Stalin highlighted that the Union Budget failed to include any major infrastructure projects, industrial packages, or special developmental funds for Tamil Nadu, effectively offering only negative responses to the state's comprehensive pre-budget memorandums.
The Chief Minister pointed out that despite Tamil Nadu being one of the largest contributors to the central exchequer through GST and direct tax collections, the state was completely bypassed in major budget allocations. Critical requirements, including disaster mitigation assistance following devastating floods, capital grants for regional metro expansions in Coimbatore and Madurai, and railway track doubling projects, were entirely disregarded.
Stalin asserted that the Union Budget exposed the central government's fiscal discrimination against non-BJP ruled states, particularly Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that budgetary allocations should reflect national equity rather than partisan political favoritism. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will aggressively challenge this economic injustice in Parliament and mobilize democratic solidarity.
