Chief Minister M.K. Stalin called upon Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi to understand his constitutional responsibilities and fundamentally reform his administrative behavior. Speaking during the #BJPCheatsTN campaign, Stalin emphasized that an appointed titular head must operate within the strict boundaries delineated by the Constitution of India, rather than acting as a political agent attempting to thwart the decisions of the elected state government.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the Governor has repeatedly obstructed bills duly passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, made provocative public statements contradicting state policy, and withheld mandatory assent on welfare measures. Stalin remarked that such obstructionist tactics demonstrate disregard for parliamentary democracy and the sovereign will of the people expressed through their elected representatives.
Stalin highlighted that the judiciary and prominent constitutional scholars have repeatedly underscored that governors are bound to act upon the aid and advice of state cabinets. He stated that continuing on a path of administrative confrontation damages the dignity of the gubernatorial office. Stalin affirmed that the DMK administration will not yield to unconstitutional obstacles, pledging to uphold state legislative sovereignty against executive overreach.
