Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a historic cabinet decision granting legal land pattas to over 86,000 underprivileged families residing on unobjectionable government lands, successfully resolving a housing dispute spanning over six decades. Stalin detailed that the decision benefits 29,187 families residing across designated belt areas in Chennai and neighboring districts, alongside 57,084 households in Madurai, Tirunelveli, and other municipal corporations and district headquarters.
To ensure swift and transparent execution, the state cabinet resolved to constitute two dedicated administrative panels mandated to complete the title deed distribution process within a strict six-month deadline. Stalin noted that since the Dravidian Model administration assumed office in May 2021, the government has distributed an unprecedented 12,29,372 land pattas to marginalized and landless citizens statewide.
The Chief Minister asserted that secure land ownership provides working-class families with social security, self-respect, and economic resilience, ending decades of administrative vulnerability and fear of eviction. He affirmed that his administration operates on the core principle of 'everything for everyone', ensuring that the dividends of good governance reach the most disadvantaged members of society. Stalin pledged to continue implementing comprehensive welfare policies for all communities.
