Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin outlined major road and bridge infrastructure milestones accomplished under the Dravidian Model administration, detailing statewide progress achieved by the Highways Department. Across the state, more than 16,421 kilometers of state highways and major district roads have undergone comprehensive upgrades, over 2,000 bridges and culverts have been built, and over 5,000 kilometers of panchayat union roads have been reclassified and resurfaced.

As part of this ongoing connectivity drive, Stalin highlighted the comprehensive modernization of the 109-kilometer Cheyyur-Vandavasi-Polur highway corridor, implemented at an estimated cost of 1,141.23 crore rupees. The upgraded corridor widens the roadway to ten meters and incorporates dedicated bypasses for three towns, comprehensive stormwater drainage, five high-level bridges, 14 medium bridges, and 225 minor culverts.

The Chief Minister noted that the project integrates modern safety amenities, including comprehensive CCTV surveillance, energy-efficient street lighting, modernized bus shelters equipped with public sanitation facilities, and 47,700 newly planted tree saplings. Backed by a seven-year performance-based maintenance agreement, Stalin affirmed that high-quality road networks stimulate regional economic activity, reduce transit times, and ensure seamless mobility for rural and suburban commuters across Tamil Nadu.
