Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a landmark policy decision to empower differently abled citizens by providing reserved representation for them in urban and rural local governance bodies through a structured nomination mechanism. Stalin stated that enabling persons with disabilities to participate directly in municipal councils and panchayat governance ensures that their unique needs, accessibility concerns, and civic priorities are systematically integrated into local policy decisions.
Reflecting on personal interactions the following day, the Chief Minister shared an emotional account of meeting a delegation of differently abled activists who embraced him and held his hands tightly to express heartfelt gratitude for the reform. Stalin described their genuine appreciation as the most precious birthday gift he could ever receive, noting that bringing tangible dignity and institutional power to vulnerable citizens defines the ultimate purpose of public office.
Stalin reaffirmed that the Dravidian Model administration will continue enacting inclusive social welfare policies that dismantle structural barriers facing marginalized populations. He emphasized that equal citizenship requires proactive representation, concluding that Tamil Nadu will remain at the forefront of protecting disability rights and social inclusion.
