Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered a forthright address at a government function in Chengalpattu, recalling recurring derogatory statements made by Union Bharatiya Janata Party ministers against the Tamil people and unequivocally rejecting the National Education Policy. Stalin highlighted that while Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje branded Tamils as terrorists in 2024, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan disparaged Tamils as uncivilized in 2025. He noted that even though political pressure forced both to issue apologies, their spontaneous statements revealed genuine underlying malice.

Stalin declared firmly that Tamil Nadu, which serves as a progressive socio-economic beacon for all of India, will never accept the regressive, exclusionary provisions embedded within the National Education Policy. He emphasized that the state's educational policy must be shaped by scientific inquiry, democratic inclusion, and local linguistic needs, rather than central ideological directives. The Chief Minister affirmed that his administration will persistently raise a battle cry to safeguard state autonomy, linguistic rights, and educational self-determination against central encroachment.

Concluding his address, Stalin assured citizens that Tamil Nadu will remain unyielding in defending its cultural pride and constitutional prerogatives. He pledged that the government will continue championing progressive educational policies that empower youth across all communities.
