Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin underscored the unanimous adoption of a historic government resolution in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly demanding that the Union Bharatiya Janata Party government completely withdraw the Waqf Amendment Bill. Stalin pointed out that all major political parties in the state legislature united behind the resolution, reflecting the shared conviction that the proposed statutory amendments infringe upon constitutional guarantees of religious freedom and community autonomy.
Stalin highlighted that the Union administration introduced far-reaching structural amendments without any formal request or consultation from Muslim community stakeholders or Waqf institutions. He maintained that imposing arbitrary administrative oversight over religious endowments demonstrates a divisive agenda aimed at paralyzing the functioning of Waqf boards across India. The Chief Minister questioned the legitimacy of enacting unwanted legal changes when the very community targeted by the legislation unequivocally rejects its intrusive provisions.
Reaffirming Tamil Nadu's steadfast commitment to secularism and minority protection, Stalin declared that statutory interventions designed to polarize society have no place in a constitutional democracy. He called upon the Union government to heed the united voice of Tamil Nadu and revoke the contentious bill entirely.
