Chief Minister M.K. Stalin mounted a sharp ideological critique against the Union Bharatiya Janata Party government, accusing it of systematically weakening the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Stalin stated that forces antagonistic to Mahatma Gandhi's egalitarian legacy are actively dismantling the historic rural welfare program introduced by the United Progressive Alliance. He pointed out that while the Union government readily writes off corporate loans worth lakhs of crores with a single signature, it cynically withholds wage payments from impoverished village labourers.
Addressing public gatherings and cadre mobilizations across Tamil Nadu, Stalin condemned the central leadership's indifference toward impoverished citizens who toil in severe heat for daily sustenance. He questioned whether the withholding of rural wages stems from an actual budgetary shortage or a callous absence of political empathy for the working class. The Chief Minister stressed that rural employment serves as the economic lifeline of agrarian villages, sustaining household consumption during seasonal distress.
Stalin urged DMK members and working-class families across Tamil Nadu to amplify their demands so that the voice of working people resonates in New Delhi, compelling central authorities to release all overdue wages.
