Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the state government will erect a statue of revolutionary philosopher Karl Marx in Chennai to commemorate the centenary of the communist movement in India. Stalin described Marx as an epochal intellectual whose economic and political theories provided the working class worldwide with ideological weapons to struggle for emancipation, human dignity, and egalitarianism. He stated that the Dravidian Model administration takes immense pride in honoring the socialist pioneer alongside fraternal communist allies.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Dravidian movement and socialist formations share deep philosophical bonds rooted in common struggles against feudal exploitation, caste hegemony, and labor oppression. Pointing to the governing ethos of everything for everyone, Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu's social welfare framework translates egalitarian ideals into concrete public entitlements for working families. He noted that establishing the memorial pays tribute to generations of trade union organizers who sacrificed their lives for workers' rights.
Stalin concluded by asserting that ideological collaboration between Dravidian and communist forces remains vital to defending secularism, federal democracy, and economic equality. He reiterated that honoring international socialist thinkers reinforces the state's enduring commitment to working-class welfare.
