Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin arrived in the Nilgiris district on an official administrative visit to dedicate completed civic projects valued at 727 crore rupees and lay foundation stones for 56 new developmental initiatives. Highlighting the extensive development itinerary, Stalin noted that the center-piece of the visit is the formal inauguration of the Nilgiris Government Medical College Hospital, making it only the second government medical college in a hill district across India after Shimla.
During the visit, the Chief Minister distributed targeted welfare assistance packages directly to 15,634 beneficiaries, spanning tribal support funds, agricultural inputs, and disability aids. He inspected 1,703 completed civic works designed to modernize public roads, clean water distribution, and ecological tourism infrastructure across Udhagamandalam, Coonoor, and Gudalur. Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model ensures that geographical isolation in mountainous zones never deprives citizens of world-class healthcare, education, and municipal amenities.
Stalin reiterated his administration's determination to preserve the fragile ecological balance of the Western Ghats while fostering sustainable local livelihoods. He affirmed that continuous capital investments will secure comprehensive social security for all residents of the Nilgiris.
