Comrade M.A. Baby, the newly elected General Secretary of @CPIMSpeak, called on me today and congratulated Tamil Nadu for two landmark developments — the Supreme Court’s historic verdict that exposed the limits of the Governor’s office, and our formation of a High-Level Committee for #StateAutonomy.
These are not isolated victories. They are the living expression of the federal ideals we jointly championed at the #CPIM24thPartyCongress in Madurai — a vision where the Constitution prevails, and the will of elected governments cannot be obstructed by unelected authority.
Our bond stays firm, our alliance grows stronger!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin met with newly elected CPI(M) General Secretary Comrade M.A. Baby during a cordial political consultation in Chennai. Baby congratulated Stalin on two landmark constitutional developments achieved by Tamil Nadu: the Supreme Court verdict curtailing arbitrary gubernatorial powers and the establishment of a state High-Level Committee on State Autonomy. Stalin noted that these achievements are the living embodiment of the joint federal resolutions championed during the 24th CPI(M) Party Congress held in Madurai.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the DMK and Left parties share an enduring ideological bond rooted in social justice, secularism, working-class empowerment, and constitutional federalism. He reiterated that unelected central authorities must never be permitted to obstruct the democratic will of elected state legislatures. By coordinating strategic legal battles and political mobilizations across states, the progressive alliance provides an unyielding democratic bulwark against central authoritarianism and majoritarian overreach.
Stalin affirmed that the ideological and electoral partnership uniting the DMK and the CPI(M) remains rock-solid and increasingly vibrant. He declared that both movements will work together to defend state rights, protect constitutional democracy, and achieve decisive victories in upcoming political contests.
