Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated World Book Day by highlighting transformative initiatives undertaken by the Dravidian Model government to promote deep intellectual curiosity and reading habits across the state. Describing books as indispensable keys that unlock unfamiliar worlds, historical eras, and diverse human experiences, Stalin reiterated his government's resolve to make literary treasures accessible to every citizen. He highlighted the ongoing construction of modern regional public libraries in Coimbatore named after Thanthai Periyar and in Tiruchirappalli named after Perunthalaivar Kamarajar.
These state-of-the-art intellectual hubs expand upon the grand precedents established by the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai and the Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai. The Chief Minister noted that the school education department actively organizes annual district-level book fairs, vibrant literary festivals, and scholarly lecture series across all administrative districts to nurture lifelong reading habits among students and rural citizens. These cultural programs ensure that quality literature reaches readers outside major metropolitan centers.
Stalin quoted the timeless maxim that reading books enriches intellectual wisdom while observing the world expands practical experience. He reaffirmed his administration's determination to position Tamil Nadu as a global lighthouse of progressive thought, scholarship, and egalitarian literature.
