Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commemorated the birth anniversary of veteran editor Murasoli Selvam, paying emotional tribute to his lifelong companionship and guidance from student activism onwards. Named in honor of Justice Party pioneer Sir A.T. Panneerselvam, Selvam served for thirty-five years as editor of Murasoli, steering the newspaper with extraordinary political insight. Stalin announced that a statue honoring Selvam will be unveiled at the Murasoli office premises, alongside the release of his essay compilation 'Silanthi Katturaigal'.

The Chief Minister reflected on how Selvam's incisive political columns and courageous journalism defended the DMK during intense political adversities, including the Emergency period. Selvam combined fierce ideological commitment with rationalist scholarship, using the editorial pen to educate cadres on federalism, state autonomy, and Dravidian social philosophy. Stalin noted that Selvam was a devoted elder brother whose wise counsel and organizational loyalty provided invaluable strength throughout his political journey.
