Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the state's first permanent campus for the Tamil Nadu Model School initiative at Thuvakudi in Tiruchirappalli district. The milestone fulfills a commitment Stalin made during his 2022 study visit to New Delhi, where he resolved to establish state-of-the-art model public schools across all thirty-eight districts of Tamil Nadu. Featuring world-class digital smart classrooms, advanced robotics laboratories, extensive libraries, and specialized sports facilities, the Thuvakudi campus sets a new benchmark for public school architecture and pedagogy.
Highlighting the remarkable outcomes of the initiative, the Chief Minister announced that 977 students graduated from these model schools have already secured coveted admissions to premier national and international higher education institutions, including IITs, NITs, and prestigious foreign universities. Stalin observed that offering rigorous academic coaching, competitive exam training, and career mentorship within government schools dismantles the privilege previously reserved for elite private school pupils.
Stalin congratulated School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and department officials for transforming government schools into beacons of pride. He vowed to expand permanent model school infrastructure across every district to empower underprivileged scholars.
