Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a magnificent bronze statue of legendary actor Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan in Tiruchirappalli, paying rich cultural tributes to one of Indian cinema's greatest thespians. Recalling the deep historical ties between Sivaji Ganesan and the Dravidian movement, Stalin remembered how Perarignar Anna affectionately christened him 'Sivaji' after witnessing his captivating stage portrayal of Chhatrapati Shivaji. He also reminisced about former Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi's enduring lifelong friendship with the actor, which began when Karunanidhi penned the iconic, fiery dialogues for the classic film Parasakthi.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Sivaji Ganesan transformed Indian performing arts through his unmatched emotional depth, impeccable diction, and multifaceted theatrical range. By immortalizing freedom fighters such as Veerapandiya Kattabomman and Kappalottiya Thamizhan VOC on the silver screen, Sivaji instilled patriotic pride and historical consciousness among millions of Tamils across generations.
Stalin asserted that honoring cultural titans who enriched Tamil society remains an intrinsic priority of Dravidian Model governance. He expressed immense joy in dedicating the memorial statue in Tiruchirappalli, celebrating the indelible artistic heritage bequeathed by Nadigar Thilagam to world cinema.
