Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally inaugurated the landmark 127th edition of the renowned Ooty Flower Show at the Government Botanical Garden in Udhagamandalam in the Nilgiris district. Opening the premier horticultural exposition, Stalin reflected on the timeless verses of Sangam poet Kapilar in the classic work Kurinjipattu, which meticulously cataloged ninety-nine endemic hill blossoms of ancient Tamilakam. The Chief Minister recalled how former Chief Minister Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi poetically reinterpreted these classical Sangam floral descriptions in modern Tamil prose.
The festival featured magnificent horticultural arrangements, exotic botanical displays, and vibrant floral exhibits curated by the state agriculture and horticulture departments, drawing thousands of visiting tourists and local horticulturists. During his tour of the botanical grounds, Stalin interacted warmly with Nilgiris residents, indigenous tribal communities, and visitors, observing that the genuine warmth and affection of the hill people surpassed even the refreshing mountain climate of Ooty.
Stalin affirmed that his administration remains dedicated to promoting eco-tourism, preserving fragile Nilgiri biodiversity, and advancing horticultural science in Tamil Nadu's Western Ghats. He commended the horticultural teams for their artistic skill and environmental dedication.
