Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over a high-level inter-departmental review meeting at the secretariat to coordinate preparedness measures for the impending southwest monsoon and finalize water management plans for agrarian cultivation. Reviewing the state's disaster response over the past four years, Stalin noted that systematic drainage infrastructure, canal rejuvenation, and prompt inter-agency coordination have minimized rain-induced disruption. He instructed disaster management teams, municipal bodies, and district administrations to incorporate practical insights from past cyclones and maintain comprehensive emergency readiness across all vulnerable zones.
During the review, the Chief Minister issued clear administrative directions regarding the scheduled opening of the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur on June 12 for the Kuruvai paddy cultivation season. Stalin directed water resources engineers and agriculture department officials to ensure desilted canal networks carry released irrigation waters efficiently to the tail-end areas of the Cauvery delta, supporting timely planting.
Stalin affirmed that safeguarding farmers' livelihoods and guaranteeing robust crop yields remain paramount priorities of Dravidian Model administration. He urged officials to work with proactive vigilance to protect citizens and support agrarian prosperity throughout Tamil Nadu.
