Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the partys apex policy-making body, the General Council, will convene in the historic city of Madurai to chart the strategic roadmap for the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. Madurai holds profound political and cultural importance for the Dravidian movement, having served as the launching pad for historic public rallies, anti-Hindi agitation conferences, and landmark socio-political declarations spearheaded by Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, C.N. Annadurai, and M. Karunanidhi.
The grand conclave brings together thousands of General Council members, district secretaries, legislators, parliamentarians, and senior frontline leaders from all districts across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. The assembly will review the widespread implementation of Dravidian Model welfare schemes, assess organizational readiness across seventy thousand polling booths, and pass resolutions articulating the states firm political positions on federal rights, state financial autonomy, and fair delimitation.
Stalin affirmed that the Madurai General Council will galvanize party ranks with renewed ideological fervor, unity, and strategic discipline. He declared that the collective decisions taken at the convention will pave the path for a decisive electoral victory in 2026.
