Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid floral tributes at the memorial of venerable Muslim leader and statesman Quaid-e-Millat Muhammad Ismail on his birth anniversary, commemorating his indelible contributions to Indian secularism and the Dravidian movement. Stalin recalled that Quaid-e-Millat was praised by rationalist leader Thanthai Periyar as an exceptionally rare and upright political figure whose moral integrity remained universally respected across ideological lines. He enjoyed deep mutual affection with former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, playing a pivotal role in enabling the DMK to form its maiden government in 1967.
As a lasting tribute to the revered leader birthplace in Tirunelveli, Stalin announced that the state-of-the-art grand public library being constructed in the southern district will be named in honor of Quaid-e-Millat. In the Constituent Assembly, Quaid-e-Millat famously championed the antiquity and national status of the Tamil language, showcasing profound linguistic pride alongside steadfast constitutional patriotism. The upcoming memorial library will feature modern digital archives, youth study halls, and extensive collections celebrating Dravidian history and minority rights.
Stalin affirmed that the state government remains firmly committed to secular brotherhood and minority welfare. He urged citizens to emulate Quaid-e-Millat exemplary ideals of communal harmony.
