Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the modernized and expanded Global Business Center of the World Bank in Chennai, commemorating a significant milestone in the state evolution into a premier hub for multinational institutions. The state-of-the-art facility represents the World Bank largest operational center worldwide outside its primary headquarters in Washington, D.C., employing more than 1,500 skilled professionals specializing in financial analytics, global accounting, information technology, and institutional governance.

Stalin observed that Chennai superior infrastructural readiness, robust digital ecosystem, and deep pool of educated talent make it an attractive destination for top-tier international organizations. The expanded center handles complex cross-border financial transactions and administrative processes supporting development projects across developing economies. The Chief Minister highlighted that the enduring partnership between Tamil Nadu and the World Bank spans decades of collaborative funding in urban infrastructure, transportation modernization, and climate resilience projects.
