Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that five lakh adult learners aged fifteen and above, who previously lacked reading and writing abilities, have successfully cleared the state comprehensive foundational literacy examinations. With an unprecedented one hundred percent pass rate, Tamil Nadu has secured the top rank across India in adult literacy attainment. Stalin extended heartfelt congratulations to the educators, field volunteers, and administrative personnel of the Directorate of Non-Formal and Adult Education for their tireless grassroots contributions.
The adult literacy campaign deploys community-based learning modules, evening study circles, and dedicated instructional materials tailored specifically for daily wage laborers, rural women, and older citizens. By acquiring functional reading, numeracy, and signature skills, thousands of rural adults have gained newfound civic confidence and independence in navigating public institutions, banking operations, and municipal administrative paperwork. Stalin noted that illuminating minds through adult literacy forms a foundational mission of social justice.
Stalin affirmed that universal literacy and continuous lifelong education constitute vital pillars of the Dravidian Model governance framework. He reaffirmed the administration resolve to eliminate illiteracy entirely across every section of society throughout Tamil Nadu.
