The Indian Railway isn’t just a service - it’s family!
#RailFareHike

During a visit to the Katpadi railway station in Vellore, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin interacted with everyday railway commuters and expressed deep concern over public dismay caused by impending rail fare hikes and the steady reduction of general unreserved coaches. Stalin stressed that the Indian Railways represents far more than a transport corporation; it functions as an indispensable lifeline and an extended family for millions of poor and middle-class citizens who rely on affordable train journeys for daily survival.
Appealing directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Stalin urged the central government to immediately freeze proposed fare increases and refrain from replacing affordable unreserved coaches with expensive air-conditioned compartments. The Chief Minister pointed out that working-class families are already struggling under intense inflationary pressures, soaring food prices, and costly cooking gas cylinders, making any addition to their transport burden unconscionable.
Stalin emphasized that public transit systems must prioritize social equity and passenger welfare over commercial profitability. He urged the Union leadership to demonstrate compassion and restore adequate unreserved coaches, ensuring that train travel remains accessible to ordinary citizens across India.
