Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin ordered the immediate transfer of the Tiruppuvanam youth custodial death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation, prioritizing transparency and uncompromised public confidence in the judicial process. Although the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court observed that the state CB-CID could legitimately proceed with the investigation, Stalin decided to refer the inquiry to the central agency to eliminate any lingering skepticism or perceived bias surrounding the probe.
Stalin affirmed the venerable legal maxim that justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done in every democratic society. He assured the public that the Tamil Nadu government and state police machinery will provide full cooperation and logistical assistance to CBI investigators throughout the inquiry. The Chief Minister reiterated his administration's unshakeable stance that institutional power must never be abused, emphasizing that no official transgressing legal boundaries will be shielded from accountability.
The Chief Minister stressed that his government remains resolutely committed to safeguarding citizen rights and upholding strict standards of police discipline. He reaffirmed that impartial judicial oversight remains vital to preserving public faith in the state's legal mechanisms.
