Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin sharply countered comments made by opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, criticizing the AIADMK general secretary for trivializing the democratic mandate of Tamil Nadu's electorate and disparaging essential welfare entitlements. Stalin remarked that Palaniswami had inadvertently turned into a roving campaign promoter for the government's flagship Ungaludan Stalin grievance redressal initiative while touring towns and villages across the state.
The Chief Minister condemned Palaniswami for claiming that citizens had been deceived by the monthly 1,000-rupee basic income provided under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai. Stalin stated that belittling financial support that directly sustains over one crore female household heads insults the dignity and intelligence of everyday voters. He warned that such callous rhetoric exposes the opposition's disconnect from working-class realities, assuring that voters will decisively reject the AIADMK and its central allies in the 2026 assembly elections.
Stalin reaffirmed that basic income entitlements represent fundamental economic rights and institutional recognition of women's unpaid labor rather than discretionary political charity. He concluded that the Dravidian Model administration will continue empowering women, defending social welfare, and upholding democratic dignity against reactionary political attacks.
