Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a high-level review with the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, issuing strict pre-monsoon directives across all 25 municipal corporations and 144 municipalities statewide. With the northeast monsoon approaching, Stalin mandated the expedited completion of ongoing road repair works and underground drainage projects, emphasizing that quality standards must be rigorously enforced without administrative compromise. He ordered comprehensive desilting and maintenance of all stormwater drain networks to prevent urban waterlogging.
The Chief Minister directed municipal authorities to regularize unauthorized speed breakers that impede traffic flow and create commuter safety hazards. Stalin instructed officials to repair street lighting systems, restore pedestrian sidewalks, and maintain predictable intervals for domestic drinking water distribution across all urban neighborhoods. He stressed that municipal administration must proactively address citizen grievances, warning that negligence in disaster prevention or public hygiene would invite stern disciplinary action.
Stalin concluded that civic infrastructure across urban local bodies must remain resilient, secure, and fully prepared before seasonal rainfall commences. He affirmed that the Dravidian Model administration prioritizes responsive civic management to safeguard urban residents from seasonal disruptions.
