Recalling Perarignar Anna's historic declaration in the Rajya Sabha proclaiming his Dravidian identity, DMK President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin praised party and allied parliamentarians for steadfastly defending Tamil Nadu's rights in the Council of States. Stalin expressed deep personal emotion upon hearing the valedictory address delivered by veteran Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko, describing him as an unyielding pillar of the Dravidian movement whose fierce parliamentary eloquence consistently safeguarded state autonomy.
The Chief Minister commended outgoing members M. Shanmugam and N. Chandrasegharan for their commendable legislative contributions on behalf of working-class laborers and regional welfare. Stalin extended warm felicitations to senior advocate P. Wilson on his re-election to the Upper House, while welcoming newly elected members including Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan, Salem Sivalingam, and celebrated poet Salma.
Stalin emphasized that the Rajya Sabha serves as a crucial constitutional forum for checking centralizing tendencies and articulating state grievances. He expressed full confidence that the incoming cohort of parliamentarians will carry forward the legacy of rationalist leadership, defending linguistic rights, fiscal equity, democratic federalism, and the secular ethos of the nation.
