The Special Intensive Revision (#SIR) is being misused to quietly erase voters from disadvantaged and dissenting communities, tilting the balance in favour of the BJP. This is not about reform. It is about engineering outcomes.

What happened in Bihar says it all: the Delhi regime knows the same electorate that once voted for it will now vote it out. That is why it is trying to stop them from voting altogether.

If you cannot defeat us, you seek to delete us. Don’t play with fire. Any threat to our democracy will be met with firm resistance.

Tamil Nadu will raise its voice with full force. We will fight this injustice with every democratic weapon at our disposal.

To every citizen who believes in the Constitution: this is not just about one state, this is about the very foundation of our Republic. Democracy belongs to the people. It will not be stolen.

Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued a resolute warning against the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, asserting that the mechanism is being systematically weaponized to delete eligible voters from disadvantaged and dissenting communities. Stalin stated that this administrative exercise does not represent electoral reform but functions as calculated electoral engineering designed to tilt democratic outcomes in favor of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

Drawing direct attention to controversial enumeration exercises in Bihar, Stalin observed that central authorities, recognizing impending popular rejection at the ballot box, are resorting to arbitrary voter disenfranchisement to suppress dissenting voices. He cautioned authorities against undermining democratic processes, affirming that any covert attempts to erode voting rights will meet determined, multi-state resistance. Stalin declared that Tamil Nadu will mobilize every constitutional, judicial, and democratic resource available to safeguard the integrity of universal adult franchise.

Stalin appealed to conscientious citizens across India to recognize that manipulating voter registries threatens the foundational bedrock of the constitutional republic. He asserted that democratic power belongs exclusively to sovereign citizens and will not be surrendered to bureaucratic manipulation.
